Perhaps every real Christian knows what it’s like to go about one’s life weighed down by a guilt-ridden conscience toward God. Life is just miserable and we go through all kinds of struggles and rationalizations to try to escape disliking ourselves. On the other hand, the joy of beginning a day of life with a sense of being right with God makes any day as bright as the morning sun, even if there is no actual sun.
What explains this real life experience? In this brief article we will try to better understand this phenomenon. Consider the following communications from God:
“Keep your faith and a clear conscience. Some people have not listened to their conscience and have made a ruin of their faith.” (1 Timothy 1:19)
“Since we have a great priest (Jesus) over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:21-2)
Beyond all question, these verses present us with a required component for having relationship integrity with our God. He simply makes “clear conscience” indispensable to having it. Without relationship integrity with my God I will “make ruin” of my faith in Him. Unless one listens and responds to his Lord his conscience will be defiled (evil) and all confidence of relationship integrity with God vanishes. Then the joy of beginning each day with God making it as bright as the morning sun cannot ever occur.
S0, what is the life-path that makes the best sense? What can one who claims He trusts in God do in order to “love life and see good days?” Listen as God tells us:
“Delight in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Hime, and He will act. He will bring forth your vindication as the light, and your right as the noonday. Be still before the LORD, and wait patiently for Him.: (Psalms 37:4-7)
